She teaches women to define their purpose and use their passion to pursue it with beauty, grace, knowledge, and confidence.

Tishawna, tell us about your book?

31 Tips to Healthy Hair is a self help guide to achieving and maintaining healthy and beautiful hair. There are 31 haircare tips to include inspiration and self care practices for women.

How did you come up with the idea for this book?

As a hairstylist, I see many women who spend money consistently on hair services and products but still miss the basic care that the hair needs in order to be healthy and manageable. Originally, I was giving away tips on social media, though pamphlets, and free downloads on my website. After a few conversations I was encouraged to write the book.

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

One of the most difficult aspects of writing this book was getting past the fear of not knowing. I’m an introverted hairstylist who had no interest in writing to sell. I read but never viewed myself in being on the other side. It’s still scary and very weird when I hear author by my name.

Why do you write?

I write consistently in my journals but recently started writing books. I write because its freeing. It allows me to unload and remove clutter which also helps in gaining understanding.

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

I want readers to learn that work and patience are requirements in everything worth having. Although in this case we’re talking hair but even with hair once you follow directions and add patience you will have healthy, beautiful, and manageable hair.

Who are your favorite authors?

I had not been a consistent reader until about 2 or 3 years ago. I have enjoyed many personal and spiritual growth books to include John C Maxwell books, Joyce Meyer books, and books by TD Jakes.

What book(s) are you reading now?

I just finished Called to Create: A Biblical Invitation to Create, Innovate, and Risk by Jordan Raynor and reading now The 15 Laws of Growth by John C. Maxwell, and Soar by TDJakes.

What books have most influenced your life?

Books that have most influenced my life is What On Earth Am I Here For by Rick Warren is a major one. At a time in my life when I experienced low self esteem, emotional exhaustion, was unsure of myself and didn’t know enough to encourage myself, I read and studied this book with two friends. Out of it gave me great insight and helped me to see me and work on me more than ever.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

If I had to choose a writer as my mentor it would be TDJakes and/or Joyce Meyer. They both bring great insight without a lot of digging for truth . They both are great examples of work and patience brings results.

Any advice to give to aspiring writers?

Advice I would give aspiring writers is to take your time. Don’t write just because but write with a meaning and knowing that someone will be blessed through every page. Rushing takes the focus off of helping someone else to helping yourself. Take your time and enjoy every word written.

#RockYourBookAcademy Introduces New Bestseller ‘Manifest the Crown: A Krystle Clear Guide to Pageantry Success,’ by Krystle Bell

Born and raised in Roanoke, Alabama, Krystle Bell is a 2007 magna cum laude graduate of Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a double minor in Spanish/Business and Technical Writing. She is a 2011 graduate of Auburn University Montgomery with a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management and Leadership.

Krystle has been competing in pageants since age 17.  She has experience in the areas of competition, judging, coaching, emceeing, directing, and stage management. She is the Founder/CEO of KrystleBell.com, a pageantry and lifestyle blog that serves as “Your Krystle Clear Source for All Things Pageant Related.” She is also the Founder/CEO of The Glamour Effect, a pageantry/life coaching and event consulting company.

She has a passion for endometriosis awareness, and she spends time educating others about this debilitating disease. In her spare time, Krystle enjoys singing, reading, public speaking, running, and modeling.

Krystle, tell us about your book?

The book is a guide that teaches women and girls how to successfully compete in pageants. I provide strategies I have used that have garnered me much success.

How did you come up with idea for this book?

I came up with the idea for this book from my own personal experience with competing in pageants. I was actually encouraged by my godmother to write a book on this subject matter.

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

The most difficult aspect of writing the book was actually finding the time to write the book. I started writing the book in June 2013, and I did not complete the writing process until May 2017.  Procrastination was also a culprit.

Why do you write?

I write because I love sharing my thoughts on subject matters that are of importance to me. Writing is also very therapeutic for me. I started my writing journey as a teen when I began keeping a journal. It then progressed into writing for a school newspaper, a newsletter, a blog, and eventually a book.

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

I want my readers to learn that they have the ability to manifest their own crowns if they have faith in themselves and are willing to do the work.

Who are your favorite authors?

Some of my favorite authors are Florence Scovel Shinn and Nicholas Sparks.

What book(s) are you reading now?

I am currently reading Your Word is Your Wand by Florence Scovel Shinn and Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

What books have most influenced your life?

The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn and The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Tamika Hall; Tamika actually edited and designed my book, and she has helped me tremendously during this season. I love how she empowers entrepreneurs and provides awesome content that helps faith based authors take their written work to the next level.

Any advice to give to aspiring writers?

If you have a desire to write a book, do it! Put pencil to paper or fingers to keyboard and begin the writing journey. Also, give yourself a deadline so you can complete your book in a timely manner and not prolong the process.

Bookcover-Krystle Bell (5)ABOUT THE BOOK

Women and girls are competing in pageants at a growing rate in the United States and throughout the world. Many are winning titles, scholarships, gifts, and modeling opportunities just to name a few. Pageantry is similar to a sport and contestants must be armed with the mindset, knowledge, and ability to compete successfully and garner accolades.  Whether a contestant is trying to win a title or develop a skill, Manifest the Crown: A Krystle Clear Guide to Pageantry Success is designed to educate novice and seasoned pageant contestants on what it takes to succeed in pageantry.

Join Krystle Bell as she offers a different perspective on pageantry and the knowledge and skill she used to manifest her own crown. She wants to get across to the readers that the ultimate goal is not just to win a crown; it is about becoming the person that God has called you to be in the world.

Shaquan, tell us about your book?

This book is about my personal story and the many challenges that I faced. Many of my challenges stemmed from lack of knowledge, self or life experience. I had to make decisions that I was not equipped to do at the time. However through faith and the power of PRAYERS, the seven steps I developed and followed throughout my life. Now I want to help others across the world by sharing my story and giving the reader tools they can used to Step into their vision.

How did you come up with idea for this book?

I came up with the idea through a presentation I did at a homeless shelter. Asked to give words of encouragement I told my story in less than 5 minutes. Every time I give a talk people world come up to me afterwards and wanted to know more about me. So I was encouraged to write by my friend Andrenee Boothe who became a mentor to me

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

The most difficult aspect was to put pen to paper. My thoughts were all jumbled and I had no direction. I just took a point and began to writing. It was all over the place. Later I went back through it and put it in order.

 Why do you write?

I love the freedom of expression that I have when writing. It is a quite but powerful way to get a message to anyone across the globe. The best part is you can connect with someone through writing you may have never met otherwise.

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

I want readers to understand that no matter how bad a situation looks or how bad they feel in the midst of a life crisis, there is always hope for a brighter day, but more importantly, with enough time the true reason for things will be revealed, so patience and perspective are necessary in the midst.

 Who are your favorite authors?

I have a few authors I enjoy. However, the authors that have made the most impact on my life are Maya Angelou and Tony Robins.

What book(s) are you reading now?

I am reading Sacred Salutations by Andrenee Boothe as this is the book that helped me get clarity during the time I was laid off from work. I now have a new employer, landed my first contract and been approached for several speaking engagements.

What books have most influenced your life?

The book that has most influence me is Maya’s I know why the caged bird sings. I connected with the characters immediately. I did not have a voice for long time. I escaped in the world of books until read this one and knew I had to change my life.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

If I had to choose I would consider Iyanla Vanzant a mentor. I enjoyed her books at a dark time in my life when I was in depression and grieving. Besides my faith her books helped me to develop action plans.

Any advice to give to aspiring writers?

Do not overthink it. Just put pen to paper and start writing. It does not have to be perfect or in order as you can edit it later. Focus on the story you want to tell and what you want the reader to know. In the end you will be glad that you started.

My Journey in life…I just allowed things to happen and tried to manage the best way I knew how. I only knew how to cope with problems by observing how my family coped with theirs. In this book you will learn the seven steps I took to create and move into my vision. After you read about my life story and the challenges I faced, you may see yourself or someone you know. If you do, it is ok to look back for a moment, just don’t get stuck there. I will outline the seven steps in this book together with a basic plan on how to succeed in realizing your vision. I have used these steps over and over again and have gone from being a helpless, jobless single mother, to being a happily married, empowered entrepreneur with a career and now the Founder and CEO of Beyond A Job Inc., a career and employment consulting company that can be found on the web at www.beyondajob.net

Kimberla’s Latest Novel!

Two years ago, to everyone’s surprise, Dillon Whitfield Black, the secret son of Reverend Curtis Black, boldly moved back home, married a woman named Raven, decided he was going to become a minister and then founded a church right in the center of his living room. Today he’s pastor of a 1000-plus-member congregation, and new members are joining weekly. Sadly, behind closed doors, Dillon is far from being a saint. Dillon has become more like the man his father was thirty years ago–consumed with money, power and lots of women. His family may have forgiven him, but they continue to keep their distance.

Not Alicia, though. This daughter of Curtis Black joins Dillon’s congregation, leaving her father’s church behind. The family has forgiven Alicia for marrying Levi Cunningham, the former drug dealer she had an affair with, however, once Alicia realizes they will never fully accept Levi, she decides to see her family less and less.

But when Raven decides she wants a higher position in the church and Alicia hides a devastating secret, the entire family is affected in ways they don’t see coming. In the end, no one will be able to trust anyone…and for very good reason.

5 Top Marketing Tips To Rock Your Book Successfully Before it’s Released

RYB ACADEMY 5 book marketing tips

When it comes to promoting and marketing of your book, and–if done right–will make the rest of the process infinitely easier.

You can promote your book at least 6 months before release date.

1) Make a video/Book Trailer and upload it on YouTube and upload directly to your Facebook with a Link to your web page. People Eat with Their Eyes and a book trailer (video) captivates people and draws them in. Having a Video Book Trailer for your book will provide you with opportunities to connect with your audience and sell more books! Book Trailers are a great marketing tool and are quickly gaining popularity among publishers and successful authors to help promote books and encourage people to read them.

2) Create a webpage of your book. Include a BUY now button. Set up a merchant account, your Paypal OR Google Checkout to help you with the transaction.

3) Ask for quotes from people who will influence your readers. Put those quotes on the back cover of your book and on your webpage and include in your book trailer.

4) Live Streaming Do Try Out Live-Streaming! Live-streaming is booming. It’s a way to engage with your audience and understand their reactions in real time. It also gives you the opportunity to humanize your social media platforms – putting a face to your brand. Some ways to utilize live-streaming could be a Q&A, sharing snippets of a major event or sharing behind the scenes moments of your brand to the audience

5) Build Your Email Be sure to add an email signup form to your website (which should be displayed on every single page) Building an email subscriber list is one of the best ways to ensure the long term success of your business. It is the most direct and cost effective way to communicate and engage with your fans and subscribers on a personal level. The bigger your list, the bigger your online marketing asset–and the more interested publishers are.

5 Biz Lessons Learned by LáTanyha Boyd, #RockYourBrandCEO

LATBOYD Brand Knowledge added value nw (8)What is your #1 Life/Biz Lesson Learned? One of my greatest lessons learned early on in Business/Life is to “Work Smarter-Not Harder!”We all need a system in place to stream line our daily activities and/or work.-Listed below are some of my suggestions, that I find to be very helpful:

Social Media Automation

Social media Automation is ‘KEY’- This free’s up your time, yet allows you to be consistent in giving your Brand a Voice.

  • Automation Software and Apps: The easiest way to automate social media is by using automation software and apps. These include HootsuiteBufferSproutSocialHubSpotSocial Oomph and Social Flow. Each tool may have unique features of their own, but essentially they all allow you to schedule social media posts in advance and monitor your accounts when someone mentions your brand or leaves a comment. Tools like Zapier and IFTTT. Basically, these resources make it possible for apps, systems and websites to talk to each other. For example, you can create a “zap” that automatically posts new WordPress posts into your Facebook page.
  • Frequently Asked Questions: As a Marketing Book Coach, I find myself answering the same questions constantly from clients. What I started to do was, create a PDF  File list of frequently asked questions to refer my clients to. This will save time for you to be productive in other ways in your business.

By way of a recommendation I would select one tool and see if it’s a good fit for your business needs. Bonus if you’re on the go like myself most of these tools have apps allowing you to stay up-to-date with your community.

Taking Mini Breaks

  • Break-Free & Take-Time-For-Self: Give yourself a break every once in awhile throughout the day to restore your natural state of harmony/calm and to rekindle your creativity. Structure your day to take advantage of your peak performance times.
  • Healthy Meals & Exercise and Fresh Air: Eat healthy meals, drink plenty of water, even go for a walk. You may even take 5-10 minutes during lunch time and get some fresh air. With a bit of exercise during the work day, you can help you actually focus longer during the day.

Guard Your Time

  • The Power in Saying No: You are the only one who can guard your time. There are only a certain number of hours in a day, and you can’t fill them up with things that don’t benefit your business. It’s hard for some people to ‘Say No.’ Instead, you might find it easier to say no, because you’re saying “yes” to something else more important. You have to guard your daily calendar like a guard dog, or you won’t be very efficient.
  • Learn To Delegate:Outsourcing is a great in working smarter not harder- Try a virtual assistant or hire a freelance writer to do some of your tasks to free yourself up for revenue-enhancing work. Delegate tasks to interns are applauded as the driving force behind a successful company. They learned that working smarter not harder is essential in business.

Daily Task Rituals

  • Peace Be Still:  Allow time for self care by practicing daily journaling, meditation, prayer, exercise or some other form of quiet time just for you where you can go to reflect, plan, relax and envision your day ahead.
  • Daily Task Manager: Arrive early to the office this will allow you to relax from morning travel-getting the kids off to school-etc. Before starting your work, begin your day with a ritual that will help ease your mind. I do a breathing exercise (Breathe In-Breathe Out this helps to clear the morning clutter of stinkin-thinking) This could also be a time that you enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, read the paper or just relax outside for a few minutes. At the end of the day, you should have a closing ritual too. Make a list for the next day, straighten your desk or back up the computer.

Good Night’s Sleep

  • A Restful Evening: Small breaks and power naps can never replace a good night’s sleep. A suggested six to seven hours of sleep at night is deemed best in order to work at peak productivity. A tired body and mind may not get work accomplished, as well as a rested body and mind can. While there might be times you need to get up early, you may want to counter that with an early bedtime to protect your sleep.

Where it all began .. By Lurissa Lawson

Jump Start Your Day! Where it all began .. A Story of Hope – Perseverance – and a Dream – Read this encouraging story!

More than a Hairstylist

She was 19 years old, a teenage mother of a 1-year-old baby girl. She sat in the bathroom of her boyfriend’s apartment contemplating suicide .

“What are they going to think of me?”, already feeling like a huge disappointment to her parents and unfit to be a mother as the tears fell down her face and she stared at the positive pregnancy test. Pregnant again?–Being a preachers kid, the pressure to live up to a certain standard was high.

The look on her parents face would be even more unbearable. She already didn’t graduate from high school on time, ran away from home, had a baby out of wed lock, and now this. She felt like the black sheep of her family, and an embarrassment to her parents, so what was the point? Not seeing the future to be anything worth living for she found the closest thing to a razor and began to…

5 Successful Tips to #RockYourBook Signing

Book Signing Tips for Authors:

One great way to tell the world about your book is to meet them in person at a book signing event. Here are some of the things that I’ve learned during my first book signing in NYC. One key component to keep in mind when designing and implementing a marketing plan for your book signing, is that every piece of your marketing plan must be a strategic way to tell the public about you and your book.

Show off your book during a book signing event with eye-catching promotional items:

  • posters
  • fliers
  • postcards
  • banner
  • business cards
  • book marks
  • promotional pens

These attention grabbing solutions will create awareness for your book and increase your book sales no matter where you host your event. As an author there is nothing like meeting face-to-face with new and current readers and seeing their enthusiasm not to mention hearing their excitement over your book. Product Branding is Good Publicity try VistaPrint

Put information about your book at the fingertips of readers with these great autographing tips:

Have book business cards on hand: Some people may look interested but not buy a book. In that case hand them a card with the book cover, a short blurb, maybe where to buy, and most importantly your website address on it. It’ll remind them when they’re in the mood to buy a new book.

Take some bookmarks: Bookmarks make for a nifty gift, and they may pass it on to someone else when talking up your book.

Have a note pad on hand: When you are a debut author there is so much excitement within; that you may find yourself misspelling your own name at least once. You never know when your ears will start misinterpreting words, and you get a person’s name all wrong. Always ask people to spell their names, even if you know them. The number of ways to misspell names like Tanyha, Tonya, Tania, or Tanya is mind-boggling. When that happens it’s best to have them spell it for you and write it down. Sometimes they’ll look at you funny when you ask them to spell ‘Caryn.’ But better that than making it out to Karen!

Sign on the title page: If you are signing an anthology, sign on the first page of your story.

Beverages: Have the following on hand bottled water, mints and for the female author lip gloss.

Added Touch: Have individual wrapped candy mints and a nice bouquet of followers.

Have about three stock signature phrases: A signature phrase varying lengths that you can rotate when personalizing books. Your message can also be memorable and should fit within the space allotted. When I’m not pressed for time, I sign my books: “I pray that you will be empowered to jump-start your day” or “Wishing you abundant joy and success.” If a line of people are waiting I simply write “Best wishes.”

Practice your signature: Remembering my first actual book that I signed was as if a chicken signed it. So accustomed to being behind a keyboard, I didn’t spend a lot of time physically writing. For that I had to practice, and practice some more to have a legible signature that I was pleased with.

Use a good pen: You want a pen which won’t smear. (permanent pen with archival ink.) Some pens have a little bit of acid in the ink which causes things to degrade. To avoid that, when buying your pen look for ones that say “Acid-Free” or “Archival Safe.” If you choose to autograph the cover or inside cover, a good Sharpie will probably be your best choice.

Be engaging! Be different! Don’t just sit at the table they have for you. Reach out and touch someone! Don’t wait for them to come to you. This will always get your supporters| readers | fans attention. Walk around the store with several copies of your book and introduce yourself to everyone. Bring your own name tag, one that let’s people see who you are and what you do. Make it special.

Do an Author Read: I found this to be intriguing to fans & potential readers. Read an excerpt or chapter from your book. Pending on the type of book, become one of your character’s within the pages.

Have stock on hand: Another great idea is to request at least a dozen books for your table to illustrate you have plenty available. If those you introduce yourself to show the least bit of interest, hand them a book. They will almost always take it. Tell them to look at it and bring it back to the table when they are finished.

RYB ACADEMY PRODUCT BRANDING GOOD PUBLICITYThank You goes a long way: After your event is over, take a deep breath, but don’t stop there. Offer to donate a signed copy of your book to the venue and sign additional copies they may have purchased. Write personal notes to everyone who helped you – your friends who sold books, a reporter who interviewed you and the venue host or hostess. Anyone and everyone who assisted you before and during your event should receive a thank you note and/or appropriate gift. You want to leave a good impression and hopefully receive a return invitation.
